UI Adjustments?
I've played Guildwars for a while now, and I've glanced through the options menus before and I've seen that you can adjust the user interface. So I'm just wondering if there are any adjustments that are universally considered to be advantageous for playing, or if it really is all just personal preference.
Thanks for any advice. |

I put all the important stuff at the bottom and to the right. Chat, district change, weapon swap icons on left.
You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0hGdqcUFIk http://i52.tinypic.com/2r27y9y.jpg For healing with mouse clicks, you want to use a skillbar at the right. I use the keyboard so it's not a big issue. see http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/p...res-t9346.html http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/vi...636b33d036e503 http://www.rebelrising.net/forums/vi....php?f=38&t=27 Last edited by LifeInfusion; Jan 15, 2011 at 09:13 PM // 21:13.. |

Well, when it comes to "advantageous for playing", i would say that having your UI in a way where you can see the important stuff clearly, is of advantage and helps your gameplay ofc But if you prefer to have the skill bar at the top, the bottom, left corner, right corner, is most a matter of what you feel comfortable with. Depends on your roll as well how you make your UI.

My set-up is strikingly similar to LifeInfusion's. I have a pretty big monitor, so having enemy stats at the top and my stuff at the bottom was a strain. I pulled the foe bar down, widened it, and stretched out the foe skill monitor quite wide for easier interruption. Hero controls are spread across the top.
Something I see a lot in screenshots is people actually taking up valuable screen real estate with the XP bar. I've made mine vertical (it fills up like a thermometer) and wedged it between my radar and the edge of the screen. It's there if I need to see it, but out of the way. |

Why do you need an experience bar?

Okay, you don't really need it -- the "H" menu is more exact. Which is why I like mine way out of the way. But it can be handy when leveling new characters and working on LDoA in Pre. *shrug* I'm used to seeing it. I might miss it if I turned it off completely.

I don't think there are any adjustments that are "universally" considered advantages. It is just personal preference in the long run.
However, if you have a widescreen monitor, I find that moving the radar down to mid-screen on the right, makes it easier to keep an eye on things without so much eye movement. |

There are benefits to having a larger minimap/compass, actually being able to see terrain and also distinguish between dots.
Also having your party window larger is certainly advantageous to a healer or anything that requires keeping an eye on party health bars specially if you also use the mouse to select party members. As for everything else it is just personal preference and how you like things laid out. 5 years on and mine is pretty similar to the default. |

A larger compass is useful a bsoltan mentions
I moved my effects monitor so it's central and a quarter of the way down from the top, just because I found it easier for seeing when I'm hit by a hex or condition, rather than having to look to the top left all the time |
